St John’s alumni meet in Paris for evening at Champs-Élysées club
A group of more than 30 Johnians met up for an evening of drinking and dining on the Champs Élysées in Paris this month.
Alumnus Edward Archer (1978) hosted the group at The Travellers’ Club on the Champs-Élysées. Miranda Byers, Head of Alumni Relations, and Shannon O’Shea, Alumni Relations Officer (Events), were delighted to meet Johnians based in the region, and those who had travelled from further afield.

Miranda said: “Johnians of all ages and their guests enjoyed champagne and canapés while exchanging stories of what brought them to France and what they’re up to now. Most moved to France to work in media, law, finance, education and other industries, while others moved in retirement or are French nationals.
“Throughout the evening alumni shared entertaining stories of their College days and found common ground in their experiences of settling into a new culture. As mentioned by several attendees, the connections made at the event will continue to provide support and community for Johnians in France.”

During the drinks reception, Miranda provided a brief welcome and update on College happenings. Afterwards half the group walked to the nearby restaurant Le Victory for dinner, which provided extended time getting to know one another.

For anyone who would like to hold a St John’s alumni meet up in their own area, the Development Office is happy to assist with putting Johnians in touch. Please contact us at development@joh.cam.ac.uk.
