Thank You Events & News

We are pleased to share that the LMBC Bicentenary Campaign surpassed its fundraising goal at the end of its historic anniversary year, raising over £820,000 to transform the boathouse. This achievement is a testament to the generosity and enthusiasm of Maggie crews and supporters past and present. Thank you once again to everyone who contributed and made this milestone possible.

The renovation will deliver practical improvements that directly enhance LMBC’s rowing programme, including expanded erg space, optimising weight training facilities, and improved lighting and ventilation.

Alexander Bird, LMBC Senior Treasurer, says “The boathouse renovations and much improved training facilities will enable senior crews to build on the outstanding achievements of recent years while also providing more and better opportunities for novices and junior crews to develop their athletic capabilities.”

At the end of January, planning permission was formally granted, giving the green light for work to begin. Construction will be carefully scheduled around the rowing calendar, ensuring that LMBC’s training and racing commitments continue uninterrupted.

The redevelopment remains on course for an anticipated completion ahead of Michaelmas term, and we will share updates as the project progresses. We look forward to welcoming our crews back to a more functional, future-proofed boathouse, securing Maggie’s excellence for generations to come.
