Varsity Matches 2022

We’re delighted to invite you to the annual ‘Battle of the Blues’ on Saturday 2 April 2022 at the Twickenham Stadium.

This will be the first time the Varsity Matches will be played on a Saturday for 75 years, meaning there is no need to take the day off to attend the event. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the first rugby match between Oxford and Cambridge, so please join us to cheer on the light blues while they claim the win!

A buffet lunch will be served in a private room for Johnians and their guests. Following lunch, the Master of St John’s College, Mrs Heather Hancock (1984), will provide updates on the latest sporting news.

What’s included in your ticket:
– A premium match ticket seated with other Johnians and your guests.
– A wristband for the Varsity Gathering so you can make the most out of the day.
– Snack and sandwich buffet lunch.
– A glass of prosecco on arrival and wine for the table.
– Tea and coffee.

Please note that the deadline to book for this event has now passed.

Programme:

11.30am: Stadium opens for guests, including Varsity Gathering.

12:30pm: Women’s kick-off.

1.30pm: Buffet lunch.

3.30pm: Men’s kick-off.

7pm: Varsity Gathering closes.

Coronavirus safety

The College continues to prioritise keeping people safe and ensuring that guests have a good experience at events. Therefore, we will continue to monitor the risk and adapt our plans in response as needed. We will communicate this to attendees, as necessary.

Further instructions about safety measures will be confirmed closer to the date by Twickenham Stadium. Nonetheless, please note that you may be required to wear a mask in bars and food areas and show a proof of a recent negative LFT on arrival.
