Fighting the good fight: Professor David Green (1970)

Professor David Green (1970) studied Economics at St John’s and worked for the homelessness charity Shelter before pursuing a career in Education. He is currently the Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Worcester and was awarded a CBE in 2019 for services to higher education. He spoke to us about the values which have underpinned his career.

A life volcanic

Professor Tamsin Mather (1995) studied Natural Sciences at St John’s specialising in Chemistry and then returned in 2001 to do a PhD in Earth Sciences. She is now a Professor of Volcanology at the University of Oxford. Her work has taken her all over the globe in a quest to understand more about the world’s volcanoes.

Since St John’s: Megan Quinn (2008)

Megan Quinn (2008) studied for an MPhil in English at St John’s, completed a PhD in English at Princeton University, and now works as a senior narrative designer at a game studio.

Richard and Hugh both studied Natural Sciences at St John’s in the 1960s and have remained friends ever since. Here they talk about their career paths, share their ideas about preventative medicine and offer advice for Johnians starting out in the medical profession.
