Owen Byrne on joining the Johnian Society Committee
Owen Byrne (1998) joined the Johnian Society Committee last month and here tells us about his reasons for serving on the committee.
Owen read Classics for two years before a final year switch to History. Throughout his time at St John's he rowed for LMBC, mainly lower boats, and in his final year served as Junior Treasurer of the Club, sourcing sponsorship for the club from UBS Warburg (as it was then), the first time the Club had been sponsored. After graduation, he worked in the regulatory side of horseracing for 8 years before a career change to law. He is a private client, tax and trusts solicitor and partner at BDB Pitmans, working between London and Cambridge. He lives in Cambridge and is a regular attendee at the Sunday evening organ recital in Chapel when family duties allow!
