Year after year, your generosity as donors inspires us. Donor Day provides a chance for the College to say an in-person ‘Thank you!’ for your kindness and support.
On a bright Sunday in May, guests mingled during welcome drinks in the Old Divinity School and Corfield Court before heading to Hall for a superb lunch (several commented that it was the best beef fillet they’d ever had!). As guests enjoyed coffee and truffles, the Master welcomed everyone and shared many examples of St John’s students whose funding has helped them to flourish in both their academic and extra-curricular endeavours. One of those students, Teodor Grama (2020, Human, Social, and Political Sciences), then spoke about his experience at St John’s and how he has been impacted by the generosity of donors.

After lunch the group returned to the Old Divinity School where Professor Usha Goswami, a College Fellow and a leading researcher in Cognitive Developmental Neuroscience, delivered a fascinating lecture on ‘Dyslexia, Rhythm, Language and the Developing Brain’. Drawing on her expertise, she answered several questions from the audience, providing practical insight and advice on an issue relevant to so many individuals.

For the first time, this year’s Donor Day drew to a close with afternoon tea on the Backs. Enjoying tea, coffee, brownies and Victoria sponge cakes, some guests relaxed in chairs under the riverside trees reminiscing about past May Balls and their courting days as students, and others stood chatting in clusters around the paddock.
