If you have returned to College this year, you may have found yourself in a new place repeating a frequently uttered phrase: ‘Well this wasn’t here when I lived in College, but isn’t it lovely?’ The Northampton Street Porters’ Lodge opened in 2024. The Cripps Porters’ Lodge was closed when the new lodge opened, and it is now the northernmost entrance point for the College.
If you’re checking into accommodation for a College event, the Northampton Street Porters’ Lodge will be your first destination in College. It’s just a short walk from the Playing Fields Car Park, as shown on the map below. Two Grade II listed buildings that were previously a restaurant (St John’s Chophouse) and student accommodation have been transformed into the inviting new Porters’ Lodge and College office space, complete with a seating area and courtyard.
