I have most enjoyed being a part of the St John's JCR; serving as Co-President has been a fantastic way to give back to a college that has given so much to me.

I applied because I wanted to give back to St John's and help ensure that no undergraduate feels held back by financial constraints when pursuing their education.

Being part of the Johnian community means being part of a historical legacy of alumni, each generation adding their own contribution to the life and identity of the college.
What does being part of the Johnian community mean to you?

Without the financial aid provided by St John’s College, being at Cambridge would be a constant financial struggle for me, and I would therefore love to help raise money to give others the same financial freedom.
Why did you apply for this year's Telethon, and why is fundraising for the Dobson Free Places Scheme important to you?

I’ve really enjoyed rowing this year. I’ve made some awesome friends and found it to be a really supportive environment.
Which extracurricular activities have you most enjoyed at St John’s?

I think it’s the breadth mostly; studying economics, law, and finance, as well as aspects of policy and the built environment, gives you a good grounding in a range of highly relevant disciplines.

I have most enjoyed being a part of St John's College Hockey Club. It has provided me with community, friendship, skills and a sense of belonging in St John’s.

I have most enjoyed rowing with LMBC throughout my first year at St John's and look forward to coaching the novices as a Lower Boats Captain in my second year.

As part of last year's Telethon team, I learned how many Johnians owed their time at St John's to education support schemes, and my own life has also been transformed by similar support from the Gates Cambridge Trust. Fundraising for the Dobson Free Places scheme is a way for me to give back to the Johnian community.

I love the huge scope of history, the curiosity it inspires, and the opportunity it provides to see connections between the past and the world we live in today.

I've experienced first-hand the difference that funding can make on your entire Cambridge experience. To fundraise for the Dobson Free Places scheme, therefore, means helping other students to be able to engage fully in college life, pursue opportunities and to think ambitiously without finances being a barrier.

I applied to join this year’s Telethon to give back to the College community and help support future generations of Johnians, and I believe the Dobson Free Places scheme is vital in ensuring that talented students can study at St John’s regardless of their financial circumstances.
