Michael Gun-Why (2002) on teaching during the pandemic and breaking down barriers to higher education.
Michael Gun-Why completed a BA in English Literature at John’s during which time he enjoyed serving on the JCR as Access Officer in his second year, and captaining the Football Team in his third year. After graduating, Michael took a year out to travel in Argentina before moving to London in 2006 to join the Teach First programme. For the past fifteen years, Michael has been dedicated to addressing educational disadvantage in schools across London. He is currently Vice-Principal for Curriculum and Data at an outstanding secondary school in Croydon. In his spare time, as in his day job, Michael continues to enjoy reading and teaching poetry – and he is thankful each day to be able to draw on the knowledge he gained during his time at St. John’s.
