2025 Telethon

Launched in 2009, the St John’s Telethon has been a powerful way for Johnians to give back. It connects generations of alumni with today’s students and helps shape the future of the College. Every conversation is a chance to share stories, build community, and make a real difference.

By supporting the Telethon, you are helping students from all backgrounds thrive at St John’s. This year, we invite you to join us in supporting the Dobson Free Places Fund, our bold initiative to provide free university places to undergraduates from the lowest-income households in the country who secure a place at St John’s. You can also support the Annual Fund, which helps bring new ideas to life across the College, and the LMBC Bicentenary Campaign, which will modernise the boathouse while celebrating 200 years of rowing tradition on the River Cam.

If you’ve already supported any of these funds, thank you. We are deeply grateful for your generosity and look forward to sharing more about the impact of your support during this year’s Telethon. And if you have not yet had the chance to get involved, there is no better time to do so.

Donate

We are inviting you to join us in supporting the Dobson Free Places Fund. We have just 19 months left to fully fund Dobson Free Places, and every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Every gift made to the Dobson Free Places Fund is currently being matched pound for pound by an anonymous foundation. Your support gives us certainty that the brightest young people, whatever their background, can continue experience a truly Johnian education – academic excellence, rich co-curricular opportunity, and building the confidence to embrace a future full of possibility.

We’re marking a truly special milestone in this year’s Telethon: the 200th anniversary of the Lady Margaret Boat Club (LMBC). As one of the most historic and active rowing clubs on the River Cam, LMBC has been at the heart of St John’s for two centuries.

To honour this legacy and support the next generation of rowers, we’ve launched the LMBC Bicentenary Campaign. Your support will help us raise £750,000 to transform the boathouse, expanding the erg space, improving lighting and ventilation, and modernising our weight training facilities.

The Annual Fund was established in 2014 and has been made possible solely through the generosity of Johnians. It benefits St John’s by supporting projects that enrich the academic, social and cultural life of the College. It allows St John’s to provide opportunities that would not otherwise be available and enhances the student experience as a result. Students, Fellows and staff of the College can apply for an Annual Fund grant, empowering those who know St John’s the best to enact changes that will have the greatest impact. More than 110 projects have been supported since the Annual Fund was established in 2014, with the fund having benefitted from the generosity of more than 2,050 Johnians.

By donating to the Annual Fund you help bring to life new and innovative projects that benefit both St John’s students and the wider College community.
