Giving Tuesday 2017

On November 28th St John’s will, for the first time, join thousands of charities around the world in celebrating Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday was established to remind us of the important role that philanthropy plays in our everyday lives, and encourages people to donate their time, energy or money to causes they feel passionately about.

At St John’s, the support of our alumni plays a role in enhancing almost every aspect of the lives of our students and the wider College community. In recent years, few initiatives have had a greater and more positive impact than our Studentship scheme, which has been made possible solely through the generosity of Johnians. In the past year 29 students from lower-income households were awarded a studentship. This new source of support plays a vital role in ensuring we are able to accept all students talented enough to thrive at St John's, regardless of their financial background, as each award covers the full cost of living and studying in Cambridge for the duration of the recipient's degree.

On Giving Tuesday we encourage alumni to remember the transformative power of education by supporting this life-changing initiative and those who benefit from it.
