Time for research

Johnians have changed the world. From splitting the atom to unravelling DNA, and from inventing the modern steam turbine to the first programmable computer, the list of scientific and technological advancements is staggering.

Just as importantly, our understanding of, and relationship with, the world and one another has been profoundly influenced by Fellows and alumni in fields such as achaeology, literature and history.

Now, at a time when the UK is spending far less of its GDP on research than many of its global competitors, St John's is more committed than ever to bucking this trend. We need to offer our Fellows and students more financial support so that they have the time and resources to pursue discoveries that will continue to shape our everyday lives.
