Go Forward, Give Back

The bar has been set…

Over the past four years, almost half of all undergraduates have donated to St John’s before graduating. By giving an average of between £2 and £3, their generosity has so far unlocked £95,000 to support more than thirty Johnian students. This has made Go Forward, Give Back the most successful student-led campaign of its kind in Cambridge, and we want you to be part of it.

How does it work?

St John’s has been approached by an alumnus who has offered to donate up to £25,000 per year to expand the College’s student support network, giving greater financial aid to those who need it most. With increased tuition fees, and the recent abolition of the Maintenance Grant, this additional source of funding for our students is more valuable now than ever before.

Your year group is the key to unlocking this funding, as every donation received, regardless of the amount given, takes us one step closer to receiving it.

This is where you come in…

Until 31 July, St John’s will receive £3,000 for every 10 per cent of graduands who donate, plus an extra £10,000 if 60 per cent or more give their support - £25,000 in total. It doesn’t matter how much you contribute, or which area of College life you give to, it is simply the act of giving that counts. Your gift could be directed towards teaching, student support, buildings or a particular club or society: whatever you feel you’ve benefited from most during your time at St John’s.

To recognise your year group’s generosity, this money will be used to establish a new bursary fund – the 2018 Leavers’ Awards – which will provide vital financial assistance to those coming up in September.
